Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Lionheart Designz builds outdoor spaces people can actually use, and we hold this website to the same idea. Accessibility is part of how the site is built rather than something added at the end, and we treat a problem anyone reports as a defect to fix.

The standard we build to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the level referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act guidance and by Section 508, and it is the level this site was designed and checked against.

What we have done

• Semantic page structure, with one main heading per page and proper landmarks for the header, the navigation, the main content and the footer.
• A skip link at the top of every page, so a keyboard user reaches the main content without going through the whole menu.
• A visible focus outline on every link, button and form field, so it is always clear where you are.
• Colour contrast checked against the actual background each piece of text sits on, including text placed over photographs.
• Text alternatives on photographs that carry meaning.
• Buttons, links and form fields sized and spaced for touch, at least 44 pixels on a phone.
• Forms with real labels rather than placeholder text, and errors given in words rather than by colour alone.
• Respect for the reduced-motion setting in your operating system. With it switched on, entrance animations and transitions are switched off.
• A layout that reflows to a single column on a phone, with no sideways scrolling.
• Navigation that opens by keyboard and by touch, not by hover alone.

The accessibility toolbar

Every page carries an accessibility toolbar, provided by UserWay, which lets you change the text size and spacing, increase the contrast, enlarge the cursor and highlight the links. Your choices there stay applied as you move around the site.

Known limitations

We would rather name these than leave you to find them:

• The map on our contact page is embedded from Google, so its keyboard behaviour and contrast are not ours to control. The same information is in text on that page, and you can always reach us on (720) 597-2566.
• Project photographs are described briefly rather than at length. If you would like a fuller description of a particular project, ask and we will describe it.
• Content served by third parties, including the accessibility toolbar itself and the spam protection on our contact form, is outside our control.

If something here is hard to use, we want to know. Email isaiah@lionheartdesignz.com or call (720) 597-2566. Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do and what happened, and we will fix it or find another way to get you what you need.

Another way to reach us

If the website will not work for you at all, call (720) 597-2566 during business hours and we will take your project details over the phone. Nothing about starting a project with us depends on being able to use this site.
